SAULT STE. MARIE — Looking for a bounce back victory after a pair of tough showings, the Harbor Springs boys’ basketball team was hoping to find it Wednesday in Sault St. Marie.

And, they did.

Visiting an eight-win Blue Devils squad, Harbor Springs returned to form with a 64-58 road victory.

It snapped just a two-game skid for the Rams, though one where the offense had gone cold, failing to reach 50 points in both losses.

It came as a slow start to the night, with the Blue Devils opening up a 14-9 advantage after the first quarter, but the Rams got going behind a big quarter from Braeden Flynn, as he put up nine points to give Harbor a 17-9 advantage in the second and 26-23 halftime lead.

Both teams came out firing in the third, with Flynn knocking down two more 3-pointers and Brady Keiser, Collin Lang and Rider Bartel each hitting one.

Harbor led after three in a 46-41 game, then closed the fourth shooing 5 of 6 from the free throw line to again hold off a strong quarter from the Blue Devils.

Flynn finished the night with 22 points to lead, Bartel scored 18 points and Keiser added 11.

For the Sault, John Gravelle had 16 points and Nathan Koepp scored 14.

The win brings the Rams to 5-8 overall on the season and they’ll next welcome in Kalkaska on Friday, Feb. 3 for a return to Lake Michigan Conference play.
