Railroaders hosting second annual Johnson County Classic

Mar. 6—For the second year in a row, the Cleburne Railroaders baseball organization will host the annual Johnson County Classic, presented by Hill College.

The tournament runs today through Saturday and will feature several local schools' baseball teams, including the Cleburne Yellow Jackets, the Joshua Owls, Burleson Elks and Centennial Spartans.

"We're truly thrilled to host the Johnson County Classic here at La Moderna Field," Railroaders General Manager Chris Jones said. "It's an amazing opportunity to gather local schools and communities at the ballpark and kick off baseball season. With so much young talent in the area, we're honored to provide a stage to showcase it."

There will be dozens of games split up at different sites in the area, including the Railroaders' La Moderna Field and high school fields among the four local schools and those in surrounding areas. Along with Johnson County's four schools represented in the tournament, the varsity baseball programs from Caney Creek, Crowley, Denison, Northside, O.D. Wyatt, Kennedale, Mansfield Summit, Maypearl, North Crowley, Eagle Mount of Saginaw, Seven Lakes, Spring Hill and Springtown.
