Raiders WR Jakobi Meyers among the most efficient slot receivers in NFL

In a recent article by Braxton Howard of Pro Football Focus, he took a look at the most productive slot receivers in the league during the 2022 season. That list was led by some familiar names, including Cooper Kupp, CeeDee Lamb and Keenan Allen.

But one name that appeared high on the list was new Las Vegas Raiders WR Jakobi Meyers. According to the site, Meyers had the sixth-highest yards per route run (1.90) from the slot last season. Here is what they had to say about the veteran receiver and his play from the slot:

Meyers has been underrated since his time in New England. His grades have screamed consistency — since 2020, Meyers has posted 80.1, 74.6 and 75.8 receiving grades.

Another reliable receiver, Meyers dropped just one pass, which came in Week 2 against Pittsburgh. Now, Meyers gets to reunite with Josh McDaniels in Las Vegas, so his job should get a lot easier running routes from the slot alongside his new teammate, Davante Adams.

The most interesting part of the Meyers signing was that the Raiders already had a Pro Bowl slot receiver in Hunter Renfrow. Can they figure out a way to get both players on the field at the same time or will the Raiders be forced to bench or move on from Renfrow?

Because it’s very clear that Meyers is the most effective in the slot despite playing outside a ton in New England. But if the Raiders want to get the most bang for their buck, they’ll have Meyers in the slot with Adams on the outside. We shall see how the Raiders move forward with their top three receivers and how they find ways to get Meyers involved in the offense this season.
