Raiders Week 16 snap counts vs Dolphins: LB Raekwon McMillan plays every snap
There was a bit of a shake-up in the linebacking corps for the Raiders. In the days leading up to the game, they learned they would be without two starters with Nick Kwiatkoski and Nicholas Morrow heading to the reserve/COVID-19 list.
It meant Raekwon McMillan would get his first start with the Raiders against the team that traded him this offseason. But McMillan didn’t just start, he wore the green dot as the team’s middle linebacker and didn’t leave the field while the Raiders were on defense.
To fully understand what kind of a promotion this was, you need only look at his snaps in the first 15 games this season. Last week was his previous season-high with 28 snaps. Prior to that only once did his snap totals even reach double digits, and eight times he had either no snaps or one snap. A total of 77 snaps coming in.
McMillan would finish tied with Cory Littleton for the team lead with nine combined tackles. McMillan had just 14 combined tackles on the season coming into this game. Unfortunately, McMillan clearly had a few big missed tackles as well, leading to Myles Gaskin having a big day with 87 yards on 14 carries (6.2 yards per carry) and catching five passes for 82 yards.
