Raiders to hire Antonio Pierce as head coach

The Las Vegas Raiders have a new head coach. Well, it was the same coach that coached the second half of the season. But now it’s official.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Raiders are working to hire Antonio Pierce as their full-time head coach. The deal is expected to get done in the upcoming days as well as an announcement by the Raiders. But Pierce has the job.

The Raiders went 5-4 with Pierce as their interim head coach last season, finishing the year with a win over the Broncos. The Raiders made a huge leap on defense once Pierce took over and the fact that he got so much support from the players in the locker room is a good sign for his potential success.

The Raiders did hold some other interviews for their head coaching gig, but it felt inevitable that Pierce would get the job. While it’s not official, fans of the Raiders can rest easy knowing that Pierce will be their next head coach.
