Pat Forde and Pete Thamel like to call them “Friday friends.”
Every fall, these pals hit up the two Yahoo Sports college football experts to gain an inside edge for their weekend activities.
“Who do you like?” they ask. “Who’s going to win?”
The quest for that extra bit of knowledge isn’t just limited to Forde and Thamel’s friends. In pizza places across Louisville and bars in Boston, Yahoo Sports readers often approach both men to ask who’s going to win — or, perhaps more importantly, who’s going to beat the spread?

There’s clearly a demand for Forde and Thamel’s opinions. That’s why we’re launching a new feature as part of the popular “Yahoo Sports College Podcast.”
Welcome to Race for the Case, a podcast installment that mixes two of the pair’s favorite pastimes — picking football games and talking about their favorite beers.
Each week, Forde and Thamel will get together for a ~15-minute episode to discuss five of the weekend’s top games and who they like against the spread. They’ll issue picks for all five games, plus offer their “six-pack pick” — a sixth lock they feel most confident about.
Along the way, they’ll also be talking about the great beer they consume in their travels covering college football across the country.
And what’s a picks podcast without a little action? Pat and Pete will be competing against each other all season. First man to fill their “case” wins a case of beer from the other.
