Quiz viewers couldn't believe how accurate Michael Sheen's impersonation of classic Who Wants to be a Millionaire? host Chris Tarrant was during the first episode of the three-part miniseries.
Making its debut tonight (Monday April 13), the eagerly anticipated opener centred on the birth of the now-legendary game show - which began its life being called Cash Mountain - as Paul Smith (Mark Bonnar) pitched it to ITV executives.
But as the media moguls were trying to boost popularity of the new outing on screen, trivia fanatic Adrian Pollock (Trystan Gravelle) was going to great lengths to ensure he'd make it on as a contestant. He even turned to a mysterious group of quizzers called The Syndicate, who offer up their assistance to hopefuls for a cut of their winnings.
Elsewhere, his sister Diana (Fleabag's Sian Clifford) and her husband Charles Ingram (Succession star Matthew Macfadyen) egged him on - unaware of the debts he was racking up in order to achieve his goal.
Those tuning in took to social media to praise the broadcast for offering up details about the well-publicised coughing scandal of 2001 - when Charles and Diana were accused of, and eventually tried for, cheating on the show. One aspect seemed to impress more than most though, and that was Sheen's take on Tarrant.
Not only did he look the part, with the boxy suits and blonde hair but fans insisted he nailed the mannerisms too, from the hand gestures to his hearty laugh.
