QUINCY – Regular subway service resumed on the Red Line between Braintree and JFK/UMass at about 11:30 a.m. Monday after police shut down all the trains in  Quincy to investigate two bodies found on the tracks near Wollaston Station.

A Red Line train operator saw the bodies of a man and a woman at 6 a.m. on the track just north of Wollaston Station, officials said.

Klyer Granada, 20, of South Boston, and Tanairy Rodriguez, 20, of Lowell, were found dead on the tracks.

A preliminary investigation indicates the victims were not hit by a train, but were instead electrocuted by the third rail.

"An adult male and female while trespassing along the right of way between North Quincy and Wollaston Station intentionally placed their bodies between the outside running rail and the third rail," Transit Police Superintendent Richard Sullivan said. "This is a limited, confined space and our preliminary investigation suggests both individuals came into contact with the third rail."

The Quincy Police Department posted to Facebook at 6:30 a.m. that all train service in the city would be shut down for at least two hours for an investigation handled by MBTA police.

Officials said commuter rail service resumed just before 7 a.m., and shuttle buses replaced service between JFK/UMass and Braintree until late Monday morning.
