In front of a packed house for Homecoming, the Faith Lutheran Crusaders racked up big points using the Sagan Gronauer to Dalton Kincaid connection to run away with a 58-39 win.
The Crusaders burst out of the gate with 22 points in the first 5 minutes of the contest surging to a 3-30 lead at the end of the first quarter as Gronauer connected on passes of 35, 26 and 62 yards to Kincaid as well as running one in himself.
The gritty Spartans settled things down in the second quarter as quarterback George Tribble managed two scores one rushing as well as a 4 yard toss to Marcus Phillips. A wildcat formation run from 33-yards out by Connor Paravia and another Gronauer touchdown pass would ensure the Spartans wouldn’t close the gap with a 17-44 halftime lead.
The Crusader opened the second half with a Saundre Spiller 20-yard run that would cushion the lead at 17-51.
Cimarron remained gritty with Tribble adding his second touchdown pass of the contest midway through the second quarter but the Spartans would be unable to find enough in the tank to get back in the contest.
Both teams would play their #2s in the last quarter with backup quarterback Dylan Krueger tossing a 24-yard score to Michael Peck to open the fourth quarter.
Cimarron’s backup quarterback Jose Carrasco would run for a touchdown and toss another to Norvon Harrell in the final two minutes of the contest to make the final on 39-58 in favor of the Crusaders.
