Former Oak Park two-sport star Maliq Carr is leaving Purdue to play a little closer to home.

And by play, we mean more than just football.

The Free Press has confirmed that Carr's name is in the transfer portal after just his true freshman season at Purdue.

The Lafayette (Indiana) Journal & Courier reports that Carr is transferring to Michigan State to play both football and basketball.

NEW BEGINNINGS: Why MSU football's swell of transfers chose the Spartans

Carr, listed at 6 foot 5 and 235 pounds, played in just three games last season and had just one reception. He was a four-star prospect as a wide receiver at Oak Park, according to 247Sports, and the No. 4 tight end in the nation for the class of 2020.

His list of basketball schools he was considering included Robert Morris, Oakland and Western Michigan.

Mel Tucker's football team has been busy shuffling through players this offseason, with 13 players joining the team via transfer since the end of last season.

Tom Izzo's basketball team has one scholarships open as of Thursday with Thomas Kithier and Rocket Watts in the transfer portal, Aaron Henry leaving for the NBA draft and Joshua Langford not returning for the extra season.
