Pulaski stops losing streak against Southwestern

Mar. 29—The Pulaski County Maroons and Southwestern Warriors were both looking to stop losing streak heading into their Thursday evening clash. Although Pulaski managed to lead for a majority of the game, two runs in the sixth by the Warriors tied the game up heading into the final inning. It was the bat of Wessen Falin that led Pulaski to the victory in the top of the seventh, as his three-RBI double to center field lifted the Maroons to a 7-4 victory over their rivals while also snapping Pulaski's two-game skid against the Warriors.

The Maroons were led by Falin's three RBI's, with Bryce Cowell getting two RBI's on a home run and Jacob Todd adding an additional home run. Braden Hampton and Keegan Measel also had a hit apiece in the contest. Hampton started the game on the mound and allowed just one run on no hits with a walk and seven strikeouts. Carter Ross earned the win in the final inning, allowing no runs and no hits with a walk and a strikeout.

The Warriors were led by Daniel Case with two RBI's and Hunter Lewis with a single RBI. Jonah Brock had two hits in the ball game. Jayce Gager had a stolen base. Cameron Shipp earned the loss, pitching almost the entire game while allowing seven runs on nine hits with three walks and seven strikeouts.

Southwestern falls to 2-7 and will host Garrard County on Friday before traveling to Bardstown on Monday to take part in the Keaton Hall Wood Bat Memorial.

Pulaski improves to 4-3 and will next be in action on Saturday as they travel to Whitley County to take on the defending state champions at 11 a.m.
