Pulaski hands Madison Southern their first loss

Mar. 21—The Pulaski County softball team has been red hot to open the season, dropping just one game while outscoring opponents 75-25. Welcoming in an undefeated Madison Southern team on Tuesday, their hot start continued in a close game, with the Lady Maroons pulling away for an 8-5 victory.

Shelbie Sellers led the way for the Maroons with three RBI's to go along with three hits. Bella Ellis and Brooklyn Thomas also had three hits, with Ellis batting in two RBI's and Thomas getting one on a solo home run. Chloe Carroll and Rilee Ross each chipped in an RBI apiece. Thomas also earned the victory on the mound, pitching the full seven innings of the game while allowing five earned runs on 10 hits with four walks and 14 strikeouts. Four different players for Madison Southern had RBI's, with freshman Taylor Reeves also hitting a home run.

Pulaski improves to 5-1 and will next be in action on Saturday as they take part in the Brynlee Bigelow Memorial Tournament. They will take on Perry County Central at 10:30 a.m.
