OFFENSIVE NOTES

* Running back Kyle Evans has been recovering very quickly from his hip injury that he suffered during the spring. It's looking like he'll only miss the first few games of the season, which is incredible news considering that his injury was career threatening. When he is healthy, he'll be in the mix for carries behind Lindsay in a crowded backfield.

* The tight end spot is a pretty interesting one for CU. They were not showcased basically at all last season, so they have nowhere to go but up. George Frazier is the leader of the group, but he's not a big receiving threat and also plays some on defense. Can true freshman Jared Poplawski step in and step up? Will Chris Bounds see more passes come his way? How will Colorado use converted defensive lineman Eddy Lopez? It will be interesting to see how the Buffs use their tight ends.

* If last year is any indicator, then the Buffs will be in a lot of four wide receiver sets with Steven Montez and Phillip Lindsay in the backfield. The set up Bryce Bobo, Shay Fields, Devin Ross, and Jay MacIntyre was deadly last season, and it would make sense to keep that same four receiver set for this season. However, the Buffs could go with Bobo and Kabion Ento on the outside and Ross and Fields on the inside. However, Ento could potentially redshirt, which would elevate Juwann Winfree's status in the offense.

* The offensive line returns starters in Jeromy Irwin, Tim Lynott Jr., Gerrad Kough, and Aaron Haigler. Projected center Jonathan Huckins will join the group on the O-line.
