Princeton Middle School girls basketball win Mercer County championship for second year in a row

Feb. 15—GARDNER — The Princeton Middle School girls basketball team did not manage an unbeaten season — but it was awfully close to it.

The Lady Tigers wrapped up a 17-1 campaign on Tuesday night, beating PikeView 68-15 at PikeView Middle School to claim the Mercer County Girls Middle School Championship.

This marked the second consecutive county title for the Princeton girls, who also won it during the 2022-23 season.

Kylee Jackson scored 22 points to pace Princeton, while Addison McCabe contributed 14 points and nine steals.

Brystal Winfrey scored 14 points and pulled down seven rebounds for the Lady Tigers.

Maddyi Anderson had six points and six rebounds while Gia Twitty had six points and four rebounds.

Jaylin Bailey scored seven points to lead the Lady Panthers.

Last Friday night Princeton defeated Shady Spring 44-23 at home.

Winfrey had 19 points and 10 rebounds in that game, while Jackson had 12 points and Twitty had six points, seven rebounds.
