One thing was clear from the snap: the Windsor family genes are strong. Prince George looks just like his dad, Prince William at age 9. Both royals have the same sandy blonde hair—with a similar hair cut—and the same buck-toothed smile.

The similarities are super clear in George's birthday portrait:

While the royal family is mindful of dressing the royal kids in throwback looks—see, for example, how Prince Louis's Trooping the Colour outfit was the same his dad's 37 years earlier, or the traditional christening dress worn by all the royals—there's no denying the power of genetics.

Prince George has made numerous appearances alongside his parents in recent months, including at Wimbledon and during Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee weekend. During the Jubilee, George also looked just like his dad when he made his Trooping the Colour carriage procession debut, and appeared on the Buckingham Palace balcony.

While it's unclear when we'll see the future king out and about next, his parents the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be appearing at the Commonwealth Games next week in Birmingham.
