Price tag pressure? Future Brentford striker yet to score since record transfer announced

Prior to the announcement of his move to Brentford, Club Brugge’s Brazilian striker Igor Thiago had scored in eight games in a row. During that time he had grabbed an incredible 13 goals. However, since the striker’s move to the Premier League in the summer, he has yet to find the net.

Some may begin to wonder whether the price tag, which is the largest fee received in Belgian football history, is starting to weight on his shoulders? During the derby with Cercle Brugge he snatched at a few good chances that he had been finishing in recent weeks. Furthermore, his frustration got the better of him and he was sent off late on. He has been missing some big chances in recent matches, with three according to Sofascore during the sides cup defeat to Union St Gilloise.

Club Brugge could certainly do with him rediscovering that form soon. While the performances of Ferran Jutglà have been promising, they are dropping points against sides that are fighting with them for a chance to make the top six. On Sunday they face Genk and, should results go against them, they could slip out of the top six. Hopefully for Thiago this is just a minor dip in form and he will prove why Brentford were willing to break the Belgian transfer record for his signature.
