President Biden jokes about Phillies fans as the Atlanta Braves visit the White House.

The Atlanta Braves, the Major League Baseball team, celebrated their 2021 World Series win at the White House today. While President Joe Biden introduced them, he joked about his wife, First Lady Jill Biden, being a Philadelphia sports fan and the fact that the Atlanta Braves beat the Philadelphia Phillies the night before. Philadelphia sports fans oftentimes have a stereotype of being very intense sports fanatics, not one to take kindly to other sports teams, and being very knowledgeable in sports. He joked about this stereotype and pokes fun at his wife for her team loosing. The 2022 baseball World Series playoffs is set to begin in late October.

BIDEN: “I married a Philly girl and she's smarter than I am and she's a hell of a lot better looking. And like every Philly fan, she's convinced she knows more about everything in sports than anybody else, man. And these guys beat the Phillies last night. I love ‘em.”
