Prep wrestling notebook: Weather affecting Region 3 Duals

Jan. 15—The Class AAA Region 3 Duals scheduled for Tuesday have been rescheduled for Thursday because of inclement weather.

Woodrow Wilson will host the event Wednesday at 6 p.m.

The Flying Eagles go in as the two-time champions. St. Albans was runner-up last season, the first year each region began qualifying its winners and runners-up.

Joining Woodrow will be Greenbrier East. St. Albans and Riverside.

It will be Youth Night, with all youth and middle school wrestlers getting in free with a paying adult.

Class AA/A will be held Wednesday at Independence, also starting at 6 p.m.

The host Patriots will be joined by Shady Spring, Greenbrier West and Herbert Hoover.

Hoover has won the tournament every year and Independence was last season's runner-up.

The state duals are set for the first weekend in February at the State Fairgrounds in Fairlea at noon each day. Class AA/A will be on Feb. 2, followed by AAA on Feb. 3.
