PREP ROUNDUP: T-Town girls fall to Class 2A Breese (Central) and 3A Effingham; St. Anthony girls down Pana

Jan. 30—TEUTOPOLIS — Class 2A No. 1-ranked Breese (Central) defeated Teutopolis, 46-33, at J.H. Griffin Gym on Saturday afternoon.

Anna Probst led the Lady Shoes with nine points (3 of 7 shooting), two rebounds and one assist. Chloe Probst had seven points (3 of 13), one rebound and one steal. Mollie Ruholl had six points (1 of 8), eight rebounds, one steal and one assist. Kelsey Niemerg and Isabelle Zerrusen each had four points. Malea Helmink had three points and Summer Wall had two points in the loss.

T-Town trailed 11-6 at the end of the first quarter, 22-9 at halftime and 34-29 at the end of the third. Central outscored the Lady Shoes 12-6 in the fourth.

Centralia 58, Teutopolis 24

Teutopolis fell to Centralia in the Pinckneyville Shootout, 58-24, at Pinckneyville High School.

Garrett Gaddis led the Wooden Shoes with 10 points. Mitch Koester, Henry Thompson and Logan Lawson each had three. Zac Niebrugge and Ethan Thoele each had two and Austin Bloemer had one.

T-Town trailed 11-6 at the end of the first quarter, 23-13 at halftime and 43-19 at the end of the third. The Shoes were outscored 15-5 in the fourth.


Effingham 57, Mahomet-Seymour 39

Effingham defeated Mahomet-Seymour in an Apollo Conference matchup, 57-39, at Mahomet-Seymour High School.

Alyssa Martin led the Flaming Hearts with 21 points. Bria Beals had 10. Averie Wolfe had nine. Sidney Donaldson had eight. Olivia Moser and Saige Althoff each had four and Bella Austin had one.

Effingham led 20-9 after the first quarter, 37-21 at halftime and 48-34 at the end of the third. The Hearts outscored Mahomet 9-5 in the fourth.

Effingham (St. Anthony) 79, Pana 34

St. Anthony defeated Pana, 79-34, at Pana High School.

Stacie Vonderheide led the Bulldogs with 31 points, 12 rebounds, four steals and eight assists. Adysen Rios had 17 points, eight assists, five rebounds and two steals. Nancy Ruholl had 15 points, six rebounds, five assists and six steals. Addie Lauritzen had 10 points and eight rebounds. Addi Nuxoll had four points and seven rebounds and Ava Faber had two points.

Robinson 59, Neoga 36

Neoga fell to Robinson, 59-36, at Neoga High School.

Brynn Richards led the Indians with 14 points. Allison Sampson and Atalie Osborn each had six and Gracie Eaton and Haylee Campbell each had five.

Neoga trailed 11-10 after the first quarter. The Indians were outscored 18-5 in the second and 22-8 in the third. Neoga outscored Robinson 13-8 in the fourth.

Newton 64, Marshall 42

Newton defeated Marshall in a Little Illini Conference matchup, 64-42, at Marshall High School.

Camryn Martin led the Lady Eagles with 26 points, six rebounds, five steals and six assists. Lilly Kessler had 17 points, 10 rebounds and three steals. Karasyn Martin had 10 points, four rebounds, five steals and seven assists. Elley Bennett had five points and four assists. Allie Hermann had four points and Claire Probst had two points and three steals.

Newton led 16-13 at the end of the first quarter. The Lady Eagles outscored Marshall 17-2 in the second and 23-15 in the third. Newton was outscored 12-8 in the fourth.



Teutopolis 62, Breese (Mater Dei) 49

Teutopolis defeated Breese (Mater Dei), 62-49, at J.H. Griffin Gym.

Gaddis led the Wooden Shoes with 13 points. Joey Niebrugge and Tyler Pruemer each had 10. Bloemer had nine. Alex Kremer had seven. Koester had six. Gavin Addis and Lawson each had three and Zac Niebrugge had two.

T-Town led 16-15 after the first quarter. The Shoes outscored Mater Dei 15-8 in the second and 16-8 in the third. Mater Dei outscored T-Town 18-15 in the fourth.

Toledo (Cumberland) 61, Tri-County 34

Cumberland defeated Tri-County in the seventh-place game of the Lincoln Prairie Conference Tournament at Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond High School, 61-34.

Kelby Bierman led the Pirates with 14 points. Blake McMechan and Zack Harmon each had 10. Isaac Vanetta had seven. Cameron Roedl had six. Zack Buescher and Kaleb Bierman each had four and Reed Miller and Grady Jones each had three.

Cumberland led 14-8 after the first quarter, 30-16 at halftime and 50-25 at the end of the third. The Pirates outscored Tri-County 11-9 in the fourth.

Olney (Richland County) 47, Newton 39

Newton fell to Olney (Richland County) in the championship game of the Little Illini Conference Tournament at Newton, 47-39.

Caden Nichols led the Eagles with 13 points. Parker Wolf and Jacob Weber each had 10. Dylan Gier had four and Gus Bierman had two.

Richland County led 15-7 after the first quarter. Newton outscored Richland County 9-6 in the second and 11-10 in the fourth. The Eagles were outscored 16-12 in the third.


Effingham 53, Teutopolis 34

Effingham defeated Teutopolis, 53-34, at Effingham High School.
