PREP ROUNDUP: T-Town girls basketball advances to consolation championship at Highland

Jan. 19—Below are area boys and girls basketball Monday through Thursday and wrestling results from Saturday.

Toledo (Cumberland) 60, Bethany (Okaw Valley) 27

Cumberland defeated Bethany (Okaw Valley) in the Lincoln Prairie Conference Tournament at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 60-27.

Alysa Dittamore led the Lady Pirates (9-16) with 25 points. Katelyn Shoemaker had 14. Suzy Fritts had seven. Jadalyn Sowers had six. Jade Carr had four. Paige Dittamore had three and Mia Holsapple had one.

Cumberland led 23-4 at the end of the first quarter. They outscored Okaw Valley 18-8 in the second, 12-10 in the third and 7-5 in the fourth.

Centralia 77, Effingham 37

Effingham fell to Centralia in the 71st Annual Salem Invitational Basketball Tournament, 77-37.

Cannon Bockhorn led the Flaming Hearts (2-21) with 12 points. Brady McDaniel had nine. Adam Flack and Nolan Fearday each had five and Hayden Wendling, Ethan Jones and Cole Phillips each had two.

Effingham trailed 14-12 at the end of the first quarter, 35-22 at halftime and 68-26 at the end of the third. The Hearts outscored Centralia 11-9 in the fourth.

Farina (South Central) 38, Neoga 28

South Central defeated Neoga in a National Trail Conference matchup, 38-28, at Neoga High School.

Max Magnus led the Cougars (11-9, 2-2 league) with 12 points. Seth Bergmann had seven. Kage Hiestand had six. Callaway Smith had five and Westin Neilson and Jacob Smith each had four.

Luke Keller led the Indians (5-14, 0-6 league) with 10 points. Gavin Ray had eight. Landon Titus had six and Trey Sheehan had four.

South Central led 8-7 at the end of the first quarter, 19-17 at halftime, 24-19 at the end of the third and outscored Neoga 14-9 in the fourth.

Teutopolis 52, Waterloo 33

Teutopolis defeated Waterloo in the 37th Annual Apex Network Physical Therapy Highland Girls Basketball Tournament, 52-33.

Chloe Probst and Anna Probst each led the Lady Shoes (15-7) with 15 points each. Kelsey Niemerg had seven. Malea Helmink had four and Isabelle Zerrusen, Allie Ruholl and Jersey Gaddis each had two.

T-Town led 14-9 at the end of the first quarter, 28-20 at halftime and 39-27 at the end of the third quarter. The Lady Shoes outscored Waterloo 13-6 in the fourth.

Newton 46, Casey-Westfield 19

Newton defeated Casey-Westfield in the Little Illini Conference Tournament at Lawrenceville, 46-19.

Camryn Martin led the Lady Eagles (14-10) with 17 points, two assists and five steals. Lilly Kessler had eight points and eight rebounds. Elley Bennett had five points and three assists. Claire Probst and Emma Nadler each had four points. Macey Barthelemy had two points and three rebounds. Karsyn Martin had two points and four steals and Izzy Meinhart and Grace Schumacher each had two points.

Newton led 16-0 after the first quarter. The Lady Eagles outscored Casey-Westfield 12-5 in the second and 14-6 in the third. Newton was outscored 8-4 in the fourth.

Effingham (St. Anthony) 64, Flora 45

St. Anthony defeated Flora, 64-45, at the Enlow Center at St. Anthony High School.

Brock Fearday led the Bulldogs (17-4) with 25 points. Collin Westendorf had 16. Ryan Schmidt had 11. Brady Hatton and Max Koenig each had four and Henry Brent and Aiden Lauritzen each had two.

St. Anthony trailed 14-13 at the end of the first quarter. The Bulldogs led 25-22 at halftime, 45-34 at the end of the third and outscored Flora 19-11 in the fourth.

Dieterich 79, Effingham 62

Effingham fell to Dieterich, 79-62, at Dieterich High School.

Cannon Bockhorn led the Flaming Hearts (2-20) with 24 points. KJ Kellams had 17. Cole Phillips had eight. Hayden Wendling had seven. Nolan Fearday had five and Adam Flack had four.

Landen Keck and Lucas Westendorf each led the Movin Maroons (14-5) with 24 points. Caleb Gephart had 16. Tanner Will had 10 and Jaxon Funneman had five.

Dieterich led 24-15 at the end of the first quarter, 37-29 at halftime and 57-49 at the end of the third quarter. The Movin Maroons outscored Effingham 22-13 in the fourth.

Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor 74, Louisville (North Clay) 54

Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor (WSS) defeated North Clay in a National Trail Conference matchup, 74-54, at Windsor High School.

Connor Manhart led the Hatchets (10-11, 2-3 league) with 30 points. Jackson Gurgel had 18. Nathaniel Gracey had 15. Aiden Sayers had seven and Brody Hendrickson had four.

Gavin Hosselton led the Cardinals (5-12, 1-4 league) with 14 points. Ethan Kuenstler had 12. Cody Zimdars and Jesse Weidner each had 11. Carder Walden had five and Garon Bailey had one.

WSS led 27-11 at the end of the first quarter. The Hatchets outscored North Clay 22-17 in the second and 15-13 in the third. The Cardinals outscored WSS 13-10 in the fourth.

Shelbyville 75, Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick 57

Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick (CHBC) fell to Shelbyville, 75-57, at Shelbyville High School.

Kaidyn Calame led the Bobcats (8-12) with 15 points, four rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block. Clayton Wojcik had 14 points, five rebounds, four assists and three blocks. AJ Radloff had 12 points, two rebounds, three assists and one steal. Wyatt Rueff had six points, four rebounds and one steal. Gage Lorton had six points, six rebounds and one assist. Hunter Pope had two points and one rebound and Carter Dilley had two points.

CHBC and Shelbyville were tied at 13 at the end of the first quarter. The Bobcats were outscored 24-9 in the second quarter and 19-15 in the fourth. They outscored Shelbyville 20-19 in the third.

St. Elmo/Brownstown 63, Martinsville 55

St. Elmo/Brownstown (SEB) defeated Martinsville in an Egyptian Illini Conference game, 63-55, at Martinsville High School.

Adam Atwood led the Eagles (16-3, 2-0 league) with 28 points (9 of 13 shooting), 10 rebounds, one steal and four assists. Cade Schaub had 15 points (6 of 11), four rebounds, three steals, one block and one assist. Josiah Maxey had 11 points (5 of 11), one rebound, two steals and two assists. Lowell Wilhour had five points (2 of 3), five rebounds, three steals and two assists and Collin Maxey had four points (2 of 8), three rebounds, three steals, two blocks and three assists.

Toledo (Cumberland) 62, Broadlands (Heritage) 32

Cumberland defeated Broadlands (Heritage) in a Lincoln Prairie Conference matchup, 62-32, at Heritage High School.

Blake McMechan led the Pirates (8-13, 2-4 league) with 14 points. Cameron Roedl had 12. Kelby Bierman had 11. Isaac Vanetta had 10. Kaleb Bierman had eight. Zack Harmon had four. Brett Wolke had two and Reed Miller had one.

Cumberland led 16-7 at the end of the first quarter, 33-19 at halftime and 48-31 at the end of the third quarter. The Pirates outscored Heritage 14-1 in the fourth.

Newton 53, Mt. Carmel 42

Newton defeated Mt. Carmel in a Little Illini Conference matchup, 53-42, at Newton High School.

Parker Wolf and Dylan Gier each led the Eagles (14-7, 3-1 league) with 16 points. Caden Nichols had 15. Gus Bierman had five and Jacob Weber had one.

Newton led 17-10 at the end of the first quarter. The Eagles were outscored 6-2 in the second. Newton outscored Mt. Carmel 13-4 in the third and 20-6 in the fourth.

Teutopolis 61, Belleville (East) 35

Teutopolis defeated Belleville (East) in the 37th Annual Apex Network Physical Therapy Highland Girls Basketball Tournament, 61-35.

Chloe Probst led the Lady Shoes (14-7) with 19 points. Mollie Ruholl had 14. Kelsey Niemerg had 10. Isabelle Zerrusen had seven. Malea Helmink had six. Anna Probst and Allie Ruholl each had two and Jersey Gaddis had one.

T-Town led 22-7 at the end of the first quarter, 47-21 at halftime and 56-26 at the end of the third quarter. The Lady Shoes were outscored 9-5 in the fourth.

Hume (Shiloh)/Kansas-Oakland 45, Toledo (Cumberland) 41

Cumberland fell to Hume (Shiloh)/Kansas-Oakland (Tri-County) in the Lincoln Prairie Conference Tournament at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 45-41.

Jade Carr led the Lady Pirates (8-16) with 15 points. Alysa Dittamore had 10. Paige Dittamore had seven. Jadalyn Sowers had five and Suzy Fritts had four.

Cumberland trailed 12-8 at the end of the first quarter. The Lady Pirates led 21-16 at halftime. Tri-County led 34-27 at the end of the third and Cumberland outscored Tri-County 14-11 in the fourth.

Newton 51, Lawrenceville 20

Newton defeated Lawrenceville in the Little Illini Conference Tournament at Lawrenceville, 51-20.

Camryn Martin led the Lady Eagles (13-10) with 20 points, eight rebounds, three steals and three assists. Karasyn Martin had nine points, three rebounds, three steals and two assists. Lilly Kessler had eight points and seven rebounds. Elley Bennett had six points, four rebounds, two steals and four assists. Macy Barthelemy had three points and four rebounds. Izzy Meinhart and Grace Schumacher each had two points and Emma Nadler had one point and six rebounds.

Newton led 16-4 at the end of the first quarter. The Lady Eagles outscored Lawrenceville 13-5 in the second and 16-4 in the third. Lawrenceville outscored Newton 7-6 in the fourth.

Urbana Invitational

Effingham competed at the Urbana Invitational in Urbana, Ill., on Saturday.

At 120 pounds, Mason Bushue went 0-2, losing to Normal University's Joshua Butler (pinfall, 1:13) and Heyworth's Jack Rutledge (pinfall, 3:59).

At 126 pounds, Kaiden Stewart finished second in his weight class and went 2-1. He defeated Heyworth's Wade Willamson (pinfall, 59 seconds) and Danville's Kendrick Pittman (pinfall, 48 seconds) and lost to Normal University's Nolan Lowe (pinfall, 2:57).

At 138 pounds, Baker Moon finished third in his weight class and went 3-1. He defeated Rochester's Walker Quimby (pinfall, 2:51), Wood River-East Alton's Landon Johnson (decision, 17-0) and Quimby for a second time (pinfall, 1:58). He lost to Urbana's Malachi Hutchinson (decision, 17-1).

At 150 pounds, Trent Reardon went 0-2, losing to Rochester's James Escobar (pinfall, 1:12) and Urbana's Jonnah Fonner (pinfall, 2:56).

At 157 pounds, Gage Emmerich finished second in his weight class and went 1-1. He defeated Charleston's Alexander England (pinfall, 1:39) and lost to Danville's Tristan Poplous (pinfall, 2:45).

At 175 pounds, Clinton Metcalf finished fifth in his weight class and went 1-2. He defeated Urbana's Jaylen Goines (pinfall, 2:42) and lost to Springfield Lanphier's Jaylen Crowder (pinfall, 44 seconds) and Wood River-East Alton's Michael Soto (pinfall, 1:03).

At 215 pounds, Jeremiah Lorton finished second in his weight class and went 2-1. He defeated Danville's Tyjuan Reed (decision, 7-5) and Rochester's Jared Lauwerens (pinfall, 3:55). He lost to Wood River-East Alton's Drake Champlin (pinfall, 2:32).

Lastly, at 285 pounds, Trenton Patterson finished fifth in his weight class and went 2-2. He defeated Charleston's Yeshua O'Brien twice: the first by pinfall in five minutes, 25 seconds; the second by a 12-2 decision. He lost to Normal University's Landon Hinkle (pinfall, 3:07) and Charleston Stormy Hughes (pinfall, 2:37).
