PREP ROUNDUP: Decatur Heritage girls get win over Falkville

Jan. 24—Katelyn Cooper scored 17 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as Decatur Heritage picked up a 65-44 win over Falkville in girls Class 2A, Area 13 basketball on Tuesday.

Decatur Heritage controlled the game from the tip, leading 23-9 after one quarter and 37-22 at halftime. The Eagles' advantage extended to 58-33 after three quarters as they rolled to the win.

Leslie Hames finished with 15 points for Decatur Heritage, while Emma Eastman added 13 points.

Brewer girls 51, Brindlee Mountain 41: Madisyn Freeman had 14 points for Brewer on Tuesday.

Chloe Romine scored eight points for the Patriots (11-12) and Keylyn Stapler scored seven. Harlie Westrbook (14) and Zoey Persle (10) each scored in double figures for Brindlee Mountain.

Clements girls 82, Ardmore 52: Taylor Farrar and TayTay Farrar each scored 17 points in a big win for Clements on Tuesday.

Kaley McEwen had 16 points for the Colts, while Leah Childress and Jakayla Farrar added 11 points each.

Arab girls 39, Priceville 34: Carly Nelson had a team-high 12 points for Priceville (12-10) on Tuesday.

Abby Langlois had eight points and 10 rebounds for the Bulldogs, who trailed 17-10 at halftime. Liv Livingston (16) and Sydney Ferguson (12) each scored in double figures for Arab.

Hartselle girls 71, Decatur 52: Hannah Burks poured in a game-high 27 points to lead Hartselle on Monday.

Gracie Hill finished with 24 points for the Tigers, surpassing the 1,000 career point mark, while Mary Frances Itsded added eight points.

Jenny Mitchell had 15 points for Decatur and Kimora Bailey and Carlee Mitchell scored 10 points each.

Decatur Heritage girls 54, Cullman 43: Genie Mcghee had 18 points, 11 rebounds and seven steals to lead Decatur Heritage past Class 6A Cullman on Monday.

Hames had 18 points and seven rebounds for the Eagles, while Cooper added 10 points and six rebounds.

Decatur Heritage boys 65, Falkville 56: Brady Wilson scored 20 points to lead Decatur Heritage to an area win on Tuesday, securing the Eagles' first area title in Class 2A.

Hayden Page finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds for Decatur Heritage, while Nash Thomas added 14 points. Dawson Fowler scored a game-high 22 points for Falkville and Caden Butler and Peyton Davis added 10 points each.

Decatur boys 50, Hartselle 44: Kamron Gamble led three Decatur players in double figures with 18 points in an area win on Monday.

Braylen Elliott had 14 points for the Red Raiders, who led 23-20 at the half. Tre Kirk scored 11 points.

Ty Odom led Hartselle with 14 points. Kohl Key scored 11 for the Tigers and Rylan Smothers added nine points.
