PREP ROUNDUP: Decatur baseball gets win at Cullman

Mar. 22—CULLMAN — Put Webster pitched five strong innings as Decatur defeated Cullman 9-2 in high school baseball on Thursday.

Webster allowed just two earned runs on five hits for the Red Raiders, striking out seven while issuing five walks.

Sam Stephenson and Ben Strickland had one hit and two RBIs each for Decatur, while Reeves Waller added a single and two RBIs. Webster, Trey Greenwell, Harris Penley and Grayson Marion had one RBI each.

Hartselle 7-5, Muscle Shoals 1: Cade Miles homered, singled and drove in three runs for Hartselle on Thursday in game one.

Cam Palahach homered and drove in three runs for the Tigers, while Jo Williamson added a hit and one RBI. Landon Blackwood pitched 3 1/3 innings for the win, allowing one earned run on five hits with a pair of strikeouts.

Miles doubled, singled and drove in two runs in game two for Hartselle, while Nic Chumley pitched four innings for the win, allowing one run on three hits with two strikeouts.

Decatur Heritage 9, Colbert County 1: Paxton Tarver and Harrison Hardy had two hits and two RBIs each for Decatur Heritage on Thursday.

Bo Mitchell pitched three innings for the win, allowing one run on two hits while recording all nine outs via strikeout.

West Morgan 14, East Lawrence 0: Cole Wallace pitched three shutout innings to earn the win for West Morgan on Thursday, allowing two hits with six strikeouts.

Blake Suggs and Trenton Pittman had a hit and two RBIs each for the Rebels, while Levi Borden added two hits and one RBI.

Chaston Jackson had a pair of hits for East Lawrence.

Hatton 21-17, Tanner 0-0: Jalen Heaps went 2-for-3 with a homer and three RBIs in game one for Hatton on Thursday.

Garson Pierce had two hits, including a double, and two RBIs for the Hornets and Parker Huff pitched two innings for the win, allowing one hit with five strikeouts.

Huff had a hit and three RBIs as the Hornets (17-5) secured the sweep with a big win in game two. Heaps had a hit and two RBIs, while Pierce worked an inning on the mound for the win.

Athens Bible School 13, Valley Head 2: Grant Ogles had three hits and four RBIs in a big win for Athens Bible on Thursday.

Luke Murrell had four hits, including two triples, and two RBIs for the Trojans, while Ryan Faust added two hits and two RBIs. Ethan Johnson tripled, drove in three runs and pitched five innings for the win, striking out 11.

Elkmont 5, Clements 1: Clay Looney had a hit and three RBIs to lead Elkmont on Thursday.

JP Pendergrass singled and drove in two runs for the Red Devils, while Joey Richards pitched all seven innings for the win, allowing one run on four hits with one strikeout.

Grayson Borden doubled and drove in a run for Clements.

Ardmore 6-10, East Limestone 1-2: Seth Frame singled twice and drove in two runs to lead Ardmore in game one on Thursday.

Noah Stafford had two hits and one RBI for the Tigers, while Caden Bailes and Dawson Pearson added one RBI each. Frame pitched all seven innings for the win, allowing one run on three hits with six strikeouts. Leyton Coffman had one RBI for East Limestone.

Bailes homered twice and drove in four runs for Ardmore in game two. Skyler Jean had a single and two RBIs for the Tigers, while Frame added a hit and two RBIs. Stafford had three hits, including two doubles, and one RBI.

Madison Academy 6-16, Brewer 5-3: Brayden Murphy had a pair of hits and two RBIs in game one for Brewer on Thursday.

Logan Powers had three hits for the Patriots, while Russell Mahan added one RBI.

Powers and Dayton Wilson had one hit each for the Patriots in game two.

Vinemont 6, Danville 1: Kade Taylor had one RBI for Danville on Thursday and Aiden Holiday had a pair of singles.

Priceville 16, Hanceville 2: Wrozlie Barnett had three hits, including two doubles, and four RBIs as Priceville improved to 6-0 in area play with a big win.

Darby Thigpen had three hits and two RBIs for the Bulldogs (18-7), while Bailey Smyth added a hit and two RBIs. Maddie Black pitched four innings for the win, striking out four.

Lawrence County 7, Ardmore 4: LA Norwood went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and four RBIs for Lawrence County on Thursday.

Jaala Hawkins added three hits and one RBI for the Red Devils, while Ava Templeton had one RBI. Raegan Johnson pitched five innings for the win.

Ragan Brownlow had two hits, including a double, and two RBIs for Ardmore.

Elkmont 15, Brindlee Mountain 2: Mary Joyce Woodfin went 4-for-4 with three doubles, a triple and five RBIs for Elkmont on Thursday.

Nyla Parker had three hits and two RBIs for the Red Devils, while Emily Vinson and Hannah Green added two hits and two RBIs each. Ava Guth singled and drove in two runs and Parker pitched five innings for the win, striking out eight.

East Limestone 1, Clements 0: Harley Johnson pitched five shutout innings to earn the victory for East Limestone on Thursday.

Miami Wilcox singled and drove in a run for the Indians, while Grace Bielat added a double. Sarah Jo Moss had two hits, including a double, for Clements.

Decatur 18, Lindsay Lane 17: Elizabeth Kreschhad three hits and five RBIs in a high-scoring win for Decatur on Thursday.

Alyssa Dothard had three hits, including a home run, and three RBIs for the Red Raiders, while Annabelle Matthews added four hits and two RBIs.

Kate Davis, Kaitlyn McMasters and Dusti Jo Conn had three RBIs each for Lindsay Lane.

Brewer 9, Arab 0: Gracie Lawrence pitched a complete-game shutout for Brewer on Thursday, allowing just one hit with seven strikeouts.

Cadence Lott had two hits, including a homer, and four RBIs for the Patriots, while Keylyn Stapler added two hits and one RBI. Brooklyn Watson had a hit and two RBIs and Ava Walls hit a solo home run.

Athens Bible School 15, Decatur Heritage 3: Aliyuh Jones had two hits and one RBI for Decatur Heritage on Thursday.

Bri Tyson tripled and drove in a run for the Eagles, while Ella Olive added one hit and one RBI.

Hewitt-Trussville 10, Hartselle 1: Brooklyn Stiles had a pair of hits for Hartselle on Thursday.

Bob Jones 8, Austin 6: Kinsley Higdon had two hits, including a home run, and one RBI for Austin on Thursday.

Arden Breedlove and Lyndi Perkins had two hits and one RBI each for the Black Bears, while Abby Lindsey and Kyra Mason added one hit each.

Priceville 9, Elkmont 0: Lillian Bloodworth led Priceville with four goals in a big win on Thursday.

AK Hopkins had three goals and three assists for the Bulldogs, while Aubrey Owens and Madelyn Kennedy added one goal each. Tori Staats recorded 16 saves in the shutout.

Danville girls 2, Brewer 1: Maddie Sherrill scored two goals to lead Danville to a win over county foe Brewer on Thursday.

Xochilt Beltran and Josie Bailey had one assist each for the Hawks, while Wendy Reyes recorded five saves in goal.

Calhoun golf

Calhoun finishes fourth: The Calhoun women's golf team recorded a fourth-place finish at the Wallace State Invitational this week.

Gracee Prince shot 81-81 to earn all-tournament honors at the event, which was held on Monday and Tuesday. Other members of the team are Raina Choi, Harper Quick and Bayleigh Robbins.
