PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL: Lady Vikings snap conference losing skid

Jan. 19—CHAMPAIGN — Four players scored in double figures for the Danville girls basketball team as the Lady Vikings defeated the Champaign Centennial Chargers 60-54 in a Big 12 Conference contest.

The Lady Vikings, who had lost five straight league games, made an impressive 13-of-16 at the free-throw line in the second half to secure the victory.

Freshman Jada Bell was 10-of-12 at the line in the second half and she was 12-of-14 in the game to finish with 12 points.

Sophomore Anna Houpt led Danville with 14 points, including four 3-pointers, while Ashanti Conaway has 12 and Amara McFarland also scored 12 for the Lady Vikings, who improve to 9-14 overall and 2-5 in the Big 12.

Thursday's contest was moved to Centennial because of water pressure problems in Danville.
