Prep Football Roundup for Week 3
Sep. 1—North Augusta 27, Lakeside 17
North Augusta improved to 2-1 with a road win over Lakeside.
Corey Tillman rushed for a touchdown and threw one to Beans Hunt, Jack Stevens kicked a pair of 40-plus yard field goals, and the Jackets added a defensive touchdown on a fumble recovery.
Up next for North Augusta is a road trip to Class AAAA No. 9 Greenwood.
Gilbert 49, South Aiken 34
Class AAA No. 9 Gilbert broke open a 28-all tie with three consecutive touchdowns to pull away from South Aiken.
Terrence Smith completed 19 of 29 passes for 213 yards and two touchdowns, and he also rushed for 142 yards and two more scores on 13 carries. Malik Scurry had six catches for 151 yards and a touchdown, A'keem Walcott ran the ball 15 times for 94 yards and a touchdown, Kyson McLeod caught a 22-yard touchdown and Andruw Kirkland had eight catches for 44 yards.
The T-Breds (0-3) are on the road next week at River Bluff.
Bamberg-Ehrhardt 17, Barnwell 7
Barnwell suffered its second consecutive loss, falling on the road to Class A No. 7 Bamberg-Ehrhardt.
The Warhorses (1-2) trailed 7-0 at the half and 14-0 after three quarters before Cameron Austin got them on the scoreboard with a touchdown run.
Up next for Barnwell is a home game next week against Orangeburg-Wilkinson.
Fox Creek 21, McCormick 14
Deonte Holmes scored a pair of touchdowns as Fox Creek got into the win column with a victory over McCormick.
The Predators (1-2) are off next week, then visit Airport on Sept. 15.
Blackville-Hilda 39, Allendale-Fairfax 0
Blackville-Hilda continued its undefeated start to the season, shutting out Allendale-Fairfax at home.
The Fighting Hawks (3-0) visit Class A No. 7 Bamberg-Ehrhardt next week.
Batesburg-Leesville 56, Ridge Spring-Monetta 12
Ridge Spring-Monetta fell to 0-3 with a lopsided loss to Class AA rival Batesburg-Leesville.
The Trojans are off next week, then visit Class A No. 1 Lewisville on Sept. 15.
Wagener-Salley 26, Lake Marion 20
Wagener-Salley picked up a road win, beating Lake Marion in a game that was played at Edisto High School.
The War Eagles (2-0) host Swansea next week.
