PREP BOYS BASKETBALL: Oakwood defeats Hoopeston Area

Jan. 10—HOOPESTON — The Oakwood boys basketball team took a big lead and held onto it for a 68-52 win over Hoopeston Area on Wednesday.

Cort Vermilion had 22 points with five 3-pointers for the Comets, who had a 20-4 first quarter lead, while Jackson Dudley had 15 points, Brody Taflinger had 13 points, Carsen Dudley scored nine and Bryson McDaniel added six.

Owen Root had 20 points to lead the Cornjerkers, while Mason Rush had 11 points, Trenton Montez had 10 and Wyatt Eisenmann added five points.
