Prep basketball roundup: Indy, James Monroe boys, Meadow Bridge girls win

Independence 69, River View 57

Independence had four double-digit scorers in a 69-57 win over River View.

Sylas Nelson led the way with 19 points. Ethan Williams had 17, Logan Mink 14 and Ashton Arthur 10.

River View got 18 from Gabe Lester, 15 from Jackson Danielson 15 and 11 from Ashton Hunt.

Indy will visit Greater Beckley Christian Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

James Monroe 76, Montcalm 25

lindside — Class A No. 2 James Monroe scored as many points in the first quarter as Montcalm did the entire game in a 76-25 victory.

Ryan Cole scored 16 points to lead the Mavericks. Cooper Ridgeway and Brady Baker both had 12 and Layton Dowdy got 11.

Donovan Reed led Montcalm with 13 points.

James Monroe (13-2) will visit Greater Beckley Christian Saturday at 7:15 p.m.

Tucker County 53, Webster County 38

upper glade — Down five with four minutes to go, Webster County was outscored 13-3 the rest of the way and fell 53-38 to Class A No. 1 Tucker County.

Ethan Rosenau hit seven 3-pointers and finished with a career-high 24 points for the Mountain Lions (14-3).

Riley Clevenger scored his 1,000th career point for the No. 4 Highlanders (15-3). Rayden Triplett led them with 15 points, six rebounds and three steals.

Clevenger had nine points, seven rebounds and three assists. Zach McCourt grabbed seven boards.

Webster will host Clay County on Monday.


Meadow Bridge 67, Man 46

man — Kierston Rozell matched her season-high from the night before with 26 points and Meadow Bridge defeated Man 67-46.

Riley Roberts added 16 and Charity Reichard 10 for the Wildcats (11-8).

Jenna Baisden and Jace Baisden scored 25 and 11, respectively, for the Hillbillies.

Meadow Bridge will play at Sherman on Monday before closing the regular season Wednesday at home against Richwood.
