Premier League matches free on TV: How to watch free-to-air games on Sky and Amazon Prime
After just over a week into the Premier League restart, Liverpool have been crowned the champions. Manchester City lost 2-1 to Chelsea, ending the Reds' 30-year wait for Premier League victory.
The English top-flight season resumed on Wednesday June 17 with Man City vs Arsenal and the less-mouthwatering-but-welcome-nevertheless Aston Villa vs Sheffield United.
The full backlog of 90 matches meant fans were pleased to hear that an unusually high proportion of them are available either on free-to-air TV, or on non-paywalled versions of subscription channels.
It looks almost certain that viewing figure records for a live Premier League game will be broken: that record is currently held by the "Aguerooooo!" Manchester derby in 2012 which was watched by 4.04 million. But could Liverpool's next match break it?
Which broadcasters have got games?
Sky Sports is showing 64 games: that's the 39 they would already have had and an additional 25.
BT Sport is showing 20 matches, picking up a further 12 games.
Amazon Prime has four matches.
The BBC also has four matches.
What is available for free on the Beeb?
For its first foray into live top-flight football since 1992 the BBC chose Bournemouth vs Crystal Palace, but you have to go with what you've got don't you? It took place at 7.45pm on Saturday June 20 and was free at the point of contact.
The second was Norwich vs Everton on Wednesday June 24, whilst the third has been confirmed as Southampton vs Manchester City on Sunday July 5. Details of the BBC's other game is still being horse-traded among the broadcasters and football authorities.
And what was the first game back?
Telegraph Sport disclosed that the first Premier League fixture back following the coronavirus crisis would be Aston Villa vs Sheffield United, and it kicked off resuming the season at 6pm on June 17.
Again, not necessarily a fixture that the neutral had circled on their calendar at the start of the season, but there were plenty of viewers tuning in to Sky Sports for that 6pm fixture, ahead of Man City vs Arsenal at 8pm.
Will Sky be making games available for free?
Yes, it will. The Merseyside derby was available free-to-air on Sunday June 21, with Sky putting it on the free-to-air ‘Pick’ Channel and simulcast on Sky Sports. Pick is 159 on Sky and 144 on Freeview. You can also watch on Now TV.

Is BT following suit?
No, at time of writing BT Sport is not going to make any games available for free.
What about Amazon?
The newest entrant to the Premier League right landscape, Amazon Prime has got four matches and they are going to make all four of them available for free, i.e. you will not need to be a paying member of Amazon Prime.
Amazon have announced that fans in the UK will be able to watch the games live on streaming service Twitch, as well (obviously) as on the Prime Video app on connected devices, with no membership option required. "Prominent Twitch streamers" will also "co-stream" the games, with more details on who and, exactly what, to be announced.
The Amazon games will have the usual mixture of punditry and commentary, with Gabby Logan, Roberto Martinez and Lee Dixon doing pre-match build-up. The commentary team features Clive Tyldesley, Peter Drury and Ally McCoist. You can also use the 'Stadium Atmosphere' feature on the Prime app, so it won't sound like a game being played in a school sports hall.
