ATLANTA- Georgia Tech wrapped up the bulk of prep work for Pittsburgh (1-2) on Wednesday. Jackets head football coach Paul Johnson spoke with the media after practice about the preparations for the Panthers.
"It's been okay. It has just been practice. I don't know in this day and age if you get a lot of urgency, but it has been okay," Johnson said.
One of Johnson's favorite sayings is that ACC Division games at home count twice. He said he players are clear on the importance of picking up a win over Pitt this weekend.
"They know it and have heard it. They know how important the game is," Johnson said.
The Jackets have a pair of home ACC games against teams they lost to last year on the road and beating Pitt could set them up nicely in the ACC Coastal Race.
QUOTE OF THE DAY: "We have to get some negative plays and that is no secret," Johnson said of his defense. "The last three or four years we've been really bad at creating negative plays and sacks. That makes it so much easier to play defense if you can get behind the chains."
