Polk County man sentenced again for child sex abuse after retrial
A man was sentenced in Polk County Circuit Court on Friday to 375 months in prison after a retrial for sex crimes involving a child.
Emmanuel Garcia Tenorio, 40, was originally convicted by a non-unanimous jury in 2013 on four sex abuse charges involving a child younger than 10, according to the Polk County District Attorney's Office. The U.S. Supreme Court struck down non-unanimous jury verdicts in 2020, and Tenorio successfully appealed his case.
A retrial delivered the same verdict, this time from a unanimous jury.
Tenorio will also serve a lifetime of post-prison supervision. He has been in prison since his initial conviction in 2013.
