If the season ended after Week 9, the New England Patriots would make the playoffs. They’re the seventh seed in the AFC, and have a 54% chance of making the postseason, a number that has inched upward over the last few weeks. In Week 10, the Patriots play a team that’s in a similar boat: the Cleveland Browns. So it’s another good test for New England.

But it’s also another good test for quarterback Mac Jones, in particular. The Patriots are built around their run game and their defense. But it’s not clear if those two groups can carry New England to the playoffs, let alone through the playoffs. So it’s fair to wonder whether Jones will need to play better — and whether he can play better this year. He made need another offseason for seasoning before he gets to the next level as a QB.

We dive into that, along with a look at the Brian Burns controversy and the upcoming matchup against the Browns.
