Podcast: The best and worst signing from Bill Belichick’s free agency splurge

The New England Patriots season is off to a brutal start, particularly when considering how much Bill Belichick spent in the offseason to help them rebuild after a mediocre 2020 season.

It’s not that the Patriots are bad. It’s that they are still mediocre, even after the coach and general manager spent $159.6 million in guaranteed money in free agency to overhaul his roster with hopes of injecting life into the roster. What we’ve seen is a team that looks overly conservative. They are saying they’re better than their record reflects. If that’s true, they’ve got a few weeks to rectify that dispatiy — or else they’ll be out of the playoff hunt entire. (They currently have just a 21% chance of making the postseason.)

In this week’s podcast, we figured we’d review the biggest bust and the biggest success from that free agency class. We dive into those signings — along with reviewing the Patriots’ loss to the Cowboys and previewing the team’s matchup against the Jets.

Thoughts on the free agency class? Thoughts on the game against the Cowboys? Let us hear it in the comments.
