Planning on a kayaking trip? Here’s why you should avoid this Miami Beach park

People are being told to stay out the water in two different Miami Beach spots after an underwater sewer line broke Tuesday.

The affected waters are adjacent to the Venetian Islands and the Maurice Gibb Memorial Park, where the kayak launch has been closed.

“The city is working closely with all governmental regulatory agencies to protect public health and the environment,” the city said. “The advisory will be lifted when the results of water quality sampling return to an acceptable range for two consecutive days.”

As the line is being repaired by Public Works crews there will me “increased vehicular activity” throughout the Venetian Islands and West Avenue neighborhoods, the city said.

Signage about the advisory will be posted at public waterway access locations.
