Planned Parenthood is offering free menstrual products: Here's how to get them.

Ran out of pads or tampons? Planned Parenthood is offering menstrual products for free.

The program started in May, and anyone who menstruates can pick up the product they need at Planned Parenthood location across Vermont. The Burlington and Williston offices are offering the service in Chittenden County, as are the Barre, Brattleboro, Rutland and White River Junction sites.

"At Planned Parenthood, we recognize that access to menstrual products is a necessity, not a luxury," the organization's Facebook page reads.

A person does not need to be a Planned Parenthood patient or make an appointment. They can stop by the health office during open hours and choose among a selection of pads and tampons. There is no limit to what a person can pick up as long as supplies last.

So far the program has been popular and the supply is good, according to Eileen Sullivan, a spokesperson for Planned Parenthood of Northern New England.
