Plainview girls basketball punch ticket to AHSAA Final Four with win over Susan Moore

JACKSONVILLE − Plainview girls basketball is going to Birmingham.

The Bears beat Susan Moore 63-55 in the AHSAA Class 3A girls northeast regional final to advance to the Final Four. Plainview led by five going into the final quarter, but the Bulldogs kept it close to the end.

The Bears (30-5) will play at noon Tuesday against Cottage Hill at Legacy Arena.

Plainview controlled the first half of the game, even when Susan Moore tried to make a run, and got the game within five multiple times.

But the Bears always seemed to have a response and led by eight at the half after shooting 50% from the field and holding the Bulldogs to 39%. Coming out of the half was a different story, the Bulldogs went on a 11-3 run that tied the game.
