Ben Roethlisberger accidentally mentioned during Donald Trump’s impeachment trial, and Twitter loved it

No, you didn’t miss anything. Ben Roethlisberger is still the Pittsburgh Steelers’ quarterback.

Former President Donald Trump’s lawyer Bruce Castor, however, seems to think he is Georgia’s Secretary of State.

During Trump’s second impeachment trial on Friday afternoon, Castor accidentally mixed Big Ben up with the actual Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger.

Castor, of course, was referencing the infamous phone call that Trump made to Raffensperger on Jan. 2 to pressure him to “find” enough votes to overturn the election results. Prosecutors in Georgia have since opened a criminal inquiry into the phone call, according to The New York Times.

Now, in Castor’s defense, the two names are extremely similar. Speaking gaffes happen all the time, and it isn’t a big deal.

The difference in Roethlisberger’s and Raffensperger's professions, though, couldn’t be further apart.

That’s part of why those watching the trial from home had plenty of jokes to make about the slip.
