St. Charles East (3-1) vs Batavia Bulldogs (4-0)

Friday, September 22nd @ 7:30pm

St. Charles East is coming off a one point loss to rival St. Charles North. The Fighting Saints forced overtime but could not finish in the end. This week they will have to be at their best vs. Batavia. Quarterback Clayton Isbell has plenty of weapons and will have to be turnover free to take down the Bulldogs.

Players to watch: #10 QB Clayton Isbell, #7 RB Nicholas Garlisch, #74 OL/DL Dylan Barrett

Batavia is one of the top teams in Illinois if not one of the best in 7A. So far this season, their defense has only allowed 18 points. The Bulldogs have been great at home this season and will look to continue that on Friday. The Bulldogs will have in my opinion their toughest test yet this season. It is up to their offense to continue to put up points if they want to improve to 5-0.

Players to watch: #11 WR Eric Peterson, #27 S Michael Niemiec, #96 DE Jack Tryzna

Thomas Gibbons Prediction: Bulldogs 36-Fighting Saints 29

Mount Carmel Caravan (3-1) vs. St. Rita Mustangs (3-1)

Friday, September 22nd @ 7:30pm

All of Mount Carmel’s wins have been shoutouts. The Caravan are once again on everyone's watchlist to be a very dangerous team come playoff time. And they have a chance to improve their resume this Friday on the road vs. St. Rita. It is going to be a very loud and hyped up crowd on Friday and the Caravan have to play fast, smart football.

Players to watch: #5 WR/SS Matt Lenti, #23 MLB Beau Saunoris, #2 QB Jack Bracewell

The Mustangs come back home after an impressive win vs. St Laurence, 24-19. St. Rita has a greater chance as any other division foes to win the Catholic league Blue division. The Caravan are a longtime rival, and a win this weekend would put them in the driver seat. The Mustangs must establish a run game on Friday or they could have a tough day on offense.

Players to watch: #3 CB/FS Matt Callahan, #11 WR/TE Myles McKatherine, #88 DE/OLB Derrick Washington

Thomas Gibbons Prediction: Mustangs 28-Caravan 27

Lincoln-Way East Griffins (4-0) vs. Lincoln-Way Central Knights (4-0)

Friday, September 22nd @ 7:30pm

This is my game of the week. If you love high school football, try and get to this game. You will not be disappointed.

The Griffins put themselves officially on the map this season after their week two win at Maine South, and according to Maxpreps.com, the Griffins are ranked second in the state of Illinois. Sophomore wide receiver AJ Henning is the playmaker on offense and is going to give the Knights a tough time. Another note on Henning, he picked another college offer on September 14th from the University of Minnesota. The Griffins need to jump on the Knights early, especially being on the road, to take control of the conference.

Players to watch: #4 WR AJ Henning, #4 RB Ryan Scianna, #46 DE Devin O’rourke (Northwestern Commit)

The Knights are going to be ready for this game. This is the game you look forward to all season. In their four games this season, Central has outscored its opponents 116-23. Senior safety Payton Nigro is one of the many leaders on this team, and his playmaking ability must show up Friday night in New Lenox. If the Knights can force multiple takeaways, I do not see any reason they do not come away with win.

Players to watch: #3 SS Peyton Nigro, #13 RB Mike Morgan, #45 DE/OLB Mark O’Reilly

Thomas GibbonsPREDICTION: Griffins 22-Knights 15
