On Tuesday morning, NBA all-everything star LeBron James announced he was opting out of the final years of his contract with the Miami Heat, and is now available to negotiate with any team. And one team that could use a bit of a boost has jumped right into the fray, the U.S. national soccer team.
Aside from the fact that Landon Donovan is somewhere weeping right now, and of course the fact that it's totally illegal, why not add LeBron? Altidore's still not 100 percent and Dempsey's got to be held together with spit and tobacco right about now, so why not a multiple-time NBA MVP?
LeBron has some soccer cred, though not necessarily on the pitch; he actually owns a share of Liverpool FC.
