Highway 401, a major Ontario route stretching
from Windsor all the way to Quebec's border, has been the scene of two
large-scale pileups recently. A pileup of at least 50 vehicles formed near
Woodstock, Ont., on Friday, Feb. 1. Only a week earlier, on Friday, Jan. 25, an
80-vehicle pileup blocked the highway near Toronto.

A massive pileup involving at least 50 vehicles on Highway 401 has forced the closure of the eastbound lanes near Woodstock, Ont., while police investigate.
Ontario Provincial Police say that a pileup on Highway 401 involved as many as 50 cars on Friday during snow squall conditions. A stretch of the eastbound lanes near Ingersoll remains closed for an investigation into the wreck.
A 10-kilometre-long stretch of Highway 401 near Woodstock, Ont., has reopened following a 50-car pileup.
