Qatar runner Noor Al-Malki

It was a heartbreaking scene on Friday for Qatar runner Noor Hussain Al-Malki, the first female athlete at the Olympics in her country's history. As a nervous Al-Malki pushed out of the starting blocks, she immediately clutched at her right leg, wincing in pain. After a couple of steps, she collapsed to the track and stayed there as her fellow competitors sprinted toward the finish line. More on this story from Martin Rogers
