  • BS Yeddyurappa: BS Yeddyurappa registered a roaring win in Shikaripura constituency by a margin of 24, 425 votes. Former chief minister and now the KJP chief, Yeddyurappa had earlier quit the BJP following allegations of illegal mining scam and illegal land deals. He later formed his own outfit, the KJP with an aim to form a government on his own in the state.

Priyank is the son of central Labour and Employment minister Mallikharjun Kharge. He had lost in the by-poll from the constituency held in 2009 after the senior Kharge vacated it to enter the Lok Sabha.

Congress has stormed back to power in Karnataka. It has won or is leading in 120 of the 223 Assembly seats in the state. BJP has been routed in the state as it has won or is leading in only 40 seats.
