'Game of Thrones': What Does the Cast Really Look Like?July 17, 2012The cast of HBO's "Game of Thrones" goes through drastic transformations to embody their medieval-fantasy characters. Click through this slideshow to compare the cast's real-life and "GoT" looks.Season 3 premieres Sunday, 3/31 at 9 PM on HBO.Lena HeadeyPeter DinklageEmilia ClarkeRichard MaddenMaisie WilliamsSophie TurnerKit HaringtonRose LeslieIain GlenIain Glen (Ser Jorah Mormont)Glen also co-starred in "Downton Abbey," as the hateful newspaper tycoon Sir Richard Carlisle. And unlike the rest of the "Thrones" cast, Glen actually looks older out of character than as Daenerys' loyal companion, Ser Jorah Mormont. We blame his multi-colored beard.Michelle FairleyNatalie DormerNikolaj Coster-WaldauGwendoline ChristieOona ChaplinDiana RiggCiaran HindsJerome FlynnCarice van HoutenRichard DormerCharles DanceRory McCannRory McCann (Sandor Clegane, aka "The Hound")Without the armor, the flowing locks, and the hideous facial scarring, Glasgow native Rory McCann looks a lot more approachable than his onscreen alter ego, the fearsome warrior known as "The Hound." We still wouldn't mess with him, though; the man stands 6-foot-6 in real life.Alfie AllenAlfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy)Though his "Game of Thrones" character Theon Greyjoy may have some serious issues with his sister, in real life, Alfie Allen has a great relationship with his big sister: British pop star Lily Allen. Perhaps her song "Alfie," which she wrote about the 25-year-old actor, encouraged him "to get a job." And what an excellent job he finally did get!Liam CunninghamLiam Cunningham (Davos Seaworth)That stern stare seems to be a permanent fixture for Liam Cunningham. Without the intense, black and white beard of his "Games of Thrones" counterpart Davos Seaworth, Cunningham looks much younger off-screen. Although we still think he's a dead ringer for "Parks and Recreation's" Nick Offerman. They could play brothers!Isaac HempsteadPaul KayeStephen DillaneStephen Dillane (Stannis Baratheon)As Iron Throne contender Stannis Baratheon, Dillane looks a lot more grim than he does in real life. (That armor must weigh a ton.) And this isn't his first time dabbling in the medieval genre; the actor played Merlin in the 2004 Keira Knightley film, "King Arthur."Gethin AnthonyGethin Anthony (Renly Baratheon)Gethin Anthony shares the same facial hair as his "Game of Thrones" character Renly Baratheon, but Anthony keeps his mane a tad bit longer. Renly is the younger son of the House Baratheon. Following the death of his oldest brother King Robert, Renly claimed the Iron Throne for himself. Unfortunately for fans of the charming gay prince, Renly saw an untimely death by a murderous shadow earlier this season.
