The evolution of the Olympic logo

Emily McLanahan

The 2016 Rio Olympics are right around the corner! The Olympics unify a variety of athletes from all over the world every two years. Yeah, big deal. The Olympic rings remains consistent each year, but a unique logo is created by designers to distinguish the two-week series of events that are the Olympic Games. It’s an honorable process, really, because this is the bottom line: Designers have the opportunity to create a piece of history that represents a memorable moment in time. So how have the logos evolved over the years? Let’s take a look.
