Known as the "overview effect," a cognitive shift in awareness is sometimes experienced naturally by astronauts during spaceflight. While orbiting the earth, astronauts' perspective changes, with patterns of the natural and mandmade world they left behind often becoming more recognizable.

The Daily Overview website is dedicated to sharing this experience, posting daily photographic depictions of the overview effect (photos taken of Earth from outer space). The site uses images from the satellite company DigitalGlobe. (Caters News)
