ESPN: Nets position on not trading Kevin Durant 'may change'

Brian Windhorst said: "Now that Kyrie has been traded, maybe the Nets' position on not trading Durant as it really was kind of last summer may change. That is an interesting development that has happened over the last 48 hours since the Kyrie trade from people that I've talked to."

Locked on Suns: Phoenix long way from acquiring Kevin Durant

Brendon Kleen said: "It’s going to get crazy (if he is available), but that fact that Kevin Durant has been consistent all along and that that was once again the first team (reporter) Chris Haynes had, it just tells me that connection is still there."

Sports Illustrated: What would it take for Suns to trade for Kevin Durant?

Remy Mastey writes: "If the Suns want to get Durant, they will have to trade around four first-round picks. It may seem like a lot, but to get a superstar talent like Durant is a once in a generation opportunity for any NBA team, and Phoenix may have to take that risk. Adding Durant to an already loaded Suns team could very well lead to a championship in the near future, which is something general manager James Jones has to account for moving forward."

Sportnaut: Deandre Ayton could be key in Kevin Durant trade

Reign Amurao writes: "Ayton could be the key for the Suns to acquire Durant from the Nets. Now, a one-for-one exchange wouldn’t be fair for Brooklyn. The Arizona-based team could add Jae Crowder, a player unwilling to suit up for the squad, and Cameron Johnson. The addition of Johnson is just in case the New York team demands young players in the deal. Jones could add two first-round picks in the trade to keep the trade fair. In addition to KD, the 2021 Western Conference champions could get Nic Claxton in the mix, but the Nets may be unwilling to part with so much of their core."

The Big Lead: Suns among three potential trade destinations for Kevin Durant

Liam McKeone writes: "It's only natural to start with the only team audacious enough to immediately leak that they'd be interested in Durant should he become available. Phoenix has the pieces to make a very attractive offer around Deandre Ayton's $30 million salary. The Suns have all their own picks so a trade of Ayton, Cam Johnson, and Jae Crowder along with two or three first-round picks is probably a starting point. The Nets will want Mikal Bridges and that could be a sticking point. But a deal could definitely get done between these two sides given how easy it is to make the money work."

SB Nation: Suns' Durant infatuation could derail trade deadline

Dave King writes: "The Suns are fixated on that one shining star again, potentially at the expense of upgrades elsewhere. If we’re lucky, they will want to know real quick on Durant this time, rather than simply wait by the phone with all their assets in their hands until noon AZ time on Thursday."

DraftKings: What would a Kevin Durant trade cost the Suns?

Benjamin Zweiman writes: "Now let’s go to the ESPN NBA Trade Machine to cook up a deal for Durant and the Suns. Phoenix could shed the salaries of Dario Saric, Jae Crowder and also include Cam Johnson and Mikal Bridges, plus picks, and we get there. Durant’s salary is $44 million, which makes it tough to navigate. This deal would be decent for Brooklyn. You get a very nice piece in Bridges, plus Johnson. You get a few expiring contracts and then w/e picks Phoenix throws in. The other deal is centered around Deandre Ayton. The Suns could deal Ayton along with Crowder and the salary matches up. Then you’d just throw in a bunch of future picks for Brooklyn and boom. The Nets really don’t need another center though with the emergence of Nic Claxton."

CBS Sports: Suns serious possibility to acquire Kevin Durant

Jack Maloney writes: "If Durant does get moved, the Suns are a serious possibility to acquire him. They were reportedly his desired destination in the summer, and have enough young players, future draft picks and matching salaries to make a deal work. The Nets didn't seem thrilled about their offer in the summer, however, and it's unclear if their feelings have changed."

Sportnaut: Analyzing a potential Suns trade for Kevin Durant

Vincent Frank writes: "Teaming Durant up with Booker would immediately make Phoenix the top contender out west. That’s why the cost of pulling off a trade would be huge. In addition to Johnson and Bridges, the Suns would have to send at least three future first-round picks to Brooklyn. As for Deandre Ayton’s potential inclusion, Brooklyn doesn’t really have a need with Nic Claxton looking very much the part at center. Instead, Jae Crowder and Dario Saric would head to Brooklyn as salary fillers with Crowder himself likely shipped to another team for more assets."

Yardbarker: Would Suns be title favorites with Kevin Durant?

Nico Martinez writes: "While Durant hasn't asked out again (yet), the possibility is real that he gets traded as well before the February 9th deadline and the Suns would make a lot of sense as a landing spot. Alongside Devin Booker and head coach Monty Williams, Durant would be set up for immediate success and it would be hard to pick against them in any series. But questions remain on the Nets' current plans and what other offers they'd receive for a player like KD. For now, all they can do is wait patiently as Durant considers his options, but the Suns aren't going to let another opportunity slip to trade for one of the game's most elite two-way stars."

NBC Sports: Could Mikal Bridges become a sticking point in Suns' efforts to trade for Kevin Durant?

Sanjesh Singh writes: "Jae Crowder has not played this season since he wants out, and Deandre Ayton has popped up in trade rumors before. The Suns also control their own draft picks for years to come, but it’d be interesting to see if Mikal Bridges becomes the sticking point. Phoenix had its best chance last season and now are on the final legs of Chris Paul’s career. Adding Durant alongside Devin Booker would be a mesmerizing sight on offense, even though the Suns’ depth is not quite up to par this year."
