J.T. Realmuto still out of Phillies' lineup; who's on first? originally appeared on NBC Sports Philadelphia

The Phillies will put their four-game winning streak on the line Tuesday night in Washington with this lineup:

  • Freddy Galvis SS

  • Jean Segura 2B

  • Bryce Harper RF

  • Andrew McCutchen LF

  • Jorge Bonifacio CF

  • Ronald Torreyes 3B

  • Matt Vierling 1B

  • Rafael Marchan C

  • Matt Moore P

J.T. Realmuto is out of the starting lineup for the second straight game. He had been battling a sore right shoulder even before he had to leave Sunday’s game with a left ankle injury. He rolled the ankle taking a swing.

It’s been a year of nagging injuries for Realmuto, from a broken thumb, to a bone bruise on his catching hand, to the sore shoulder and now the ankle.

Realmuto is not on the injured list. He is available to pinch-hit and catch, if needed.

Realmuto played first base on Sunday and the plan is to get him more time there in place of injured Rhys Hoskins. With Realmuto out of the lineup Tuesday, the Phils had rookie Matt Vierling at first base. He was recalled from Triple A earlier in the day when Travis Jankowski went on the paternity list.

Didi Gregorius is also on paternity leave.

Vierling has twice been up briefly with the Phillies this season. He has three hits in seven at-bats. He is an outfielder by trade and has played just six games at first base, all this season, in his minor-league career.

Lefty-hitting Brad Miller, who has been playing first base, was not in the starting lineup against Washington lefty Patrick Corbin.
