Phillies remove 3 more pitchers from spring training roster originally appeared on NBC Sports Philadelphia

With the days counting down until opening day, the Phillies on Monday trimmed their spring training roster by three pitchers.

Ramon Rosso was optioned to the minor leagues and Bryan Mitchell and Michael Ynoa were reassigned. All are right-handers. Rosso is on the 40-man roster. Mitchell and Ynoa were in big-league camp on minor-league contracts. All three pitchers have spent time in the majors previously in their careers and could provide depth this season.

The cuts left the Phils with 40 players in big-league camp. More cuts are expected in the coming days as the Phils get down to 26 men before the April 1 season opener.

The Phillies play against the New York Yankees in Tampa on Monday night. Aaron Nola will make the start.
