Tiger Woods to release memoir about storied golf career

For the first time, fans will get to hear Tiger Woods’ story straight from the source.

Woods and HarperCollins Publishers announced on Tuesday that the golf star is writing a memoir, his first ever. The book, “Back,” does not yet have a publishing date.

The book, according to the release, will cover everything from the beginning of Woods’ storied career, his rise to the top of the golf world, his extremely high-profile personal issues with sex addiction and his divorce before ending with his latest major championship win — a historic victory at the Masters in April.

“I’ve been in the spotlight for a long time, and because of that, there have been books and articles and TV shows about me, most filled with errors, speculative and wrong,” Woods said. “This book is my definitive story. It’s in my words and expresses my thoughts. It describes how I feel and what’s happened in my life. I’ve been working at it steadily, and I’m looking forward to continuing the process and creating a book that people will want to read.”

Woods — who first turned pro in 1996 — currently holds 81 wins on the PGA Tour, just one shy of Sam Snead’s all-time record, and has won 15 major championships in his career. He played in just 12 events last season and had three top-10 finishes. He missed the cut at both the PGA Championship and The Open Championship, however, and failed to reach the Tour Championship at East Lake.

He is set to kick off the 2019-20 Tour season next week at the ZOZO Championship, the Tour’s inaugural event in Japan.
