PFF opines on what Blake Corum’s rating would be in new EA College Football game

College football fans still have to wait about a year before the return of their favorite video game.

In the new age of NIL, EA Sports announced that it will be rebooting its popular annual college football game across multiple platforms, but it’s taking awhile before it actually comes to fruition. With name, image, and likeness now the new reality, instead of rosters being full of nameless, faceless players simply holding the same numbers and positions of current players, we’ll actually see real players represented in the new game.

With the game still a year away, there are many players who are expected to be stars this year who won’t likely be included in the launch. Either way, PFF had something of a thought experiment — which players would have a coveted 99 rating in the game, a la the best players in EA’s yearly Madden game?

Naturally, Michigan football RB Blake Corum made the cut, and Max Chadwick explains why.

Corum’s 96.2 grade this past season didn’t just lead all players in the country, it was the highest single-season grade by a Power Five player in the PFF College era.

Those three players behind him were all selected top five of their respective drafts. While Corum likely won’t join them since he plays running back, it shows the elite company he’s in. His 96 rushing first downs/touchdowns ranked the second-most in the country behind only Minnesota’s Mohamed Ibrahim, who received 72 more carries. Corum’s best attribute is his elite agility while having a low center of gravity at 5-foot-8, 210 pounds.

While he won’t be included in the video game given that Corum will depart for the NFL following this season, Michigan football fans are certainly hoping he plays as if he has a 99 rating on the field.
