Drew Silva discusses the Tampa Bay Rays' under-the-radar acquisition of veteran David Peralta and touches on the type of value he could bring the Rays and fantasy managers alike down the stretch.

- The Tampa Bay Rays with their organizational payroll constraints are well known for making crafty under the radar in season and off season additions. And it seems like they may have done that again in acquiring veteran outfielder David Peralta from the Diamondbacks in the days leading up to the August 2 trade deadline.

Peralta has lost some power at age 34, soon to be 35. And the former Gold Glove winner is not much of a defender these days. But he has posted an 821 OPS this year against right handed pitching. And 11 of his 12 home runs have come off righties. For his career, his OPS versus righties is 843.

Now with a club that loves to take advantage of platoon splits and does so highly effectively, Peralta should see a boost in fantasy value down the stretch. More so in formats that allow for daily lineup changes. He probably will often sit when there is a lefty on the mound and hit fifth or even cleanup whenever the Rays are opposing a righty.
