Penn State closes out 2021 with four-star commitment for 2023

On the eve of Penn State’s appearance in the Outback Bowl, the Nittany Lions have picked up a new verbal commitment for the Class of 2023. Four-star athlete Neeo Avery, from Maryland, has committed to the Nittany Lions.

Avery is the seventh commitment for Penn State’s Class of 2023, which looks to follow up a stellar Class of 2022. The consensus four-star athlete has played a variety of positions in high school including tight end and multiple positions on the defensive line. What the grand plan for Avery will be once he arrives in Happy Valley remains to be seen, but it could be somewhat worth notable he was primarily recruited by tight ends coach Ty Howle.

Avery committed to Penn State over a good number of intriguing offers, including Ohio State, Notre Dame, and Georgia. SO it is safe to say Penn State added a coveted piece to its recruiting efforts in the next recruiting cycle for the Class of 2023.

The recruiting rankings also reveal Avery is one of the top recruits in the current recruiting class. Only offensive lineman Alex Birchmeier scores higher on the 247 Sports composite ranking as of now. Avery is the third-highest rated recruit in the state of Maryland according to 247 Sports and On3.
